Subject: ELK HUNT
Dear Jim, We are just home from Elk Hunting in Colorado. I took a 5X5 bull at 0815 opening morning with your/my rifle. After bugling and cow calling for 45 minutes with a large herd of elk about 400 yards from me, my elksneaked in for a peek at what he hoped was hot elk cow. He came up hill and stopped at 35 yards showing only his head and about ten inches of neck. He was staring directly at me and obviously thinking only with his testicles. I took a sight picture on his spine just under his chin. Ignition was instantaneous, thank you!
When the smoke cleared, no elk visible, but no sound of one crashing away either. I re-loaded and approached the spot cocked and ready for a second shot should he try to get up. He had already departed the mortal coil with instant respiratory failure due to total spinal cord transection at C2-3. (That's Doctor Talk)
Thank you for your most excellent work! Your rifle was the hit of elk camp! It was the only muzzleloader in camp, this being first RIFLE season in Colorado. My elk was the first taken in camp this season and is my first muzzleloader elk after four prior tries.
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!! Barry Maxfield
